Conference Secretariat: Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Shahid Beheshti University
The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science was originally established in 1976 (1355-1356) under the name “Comprehensive Faculty of Informatics and Management” with programs in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Applied Statistics, Accounting, and Management. A few years after the Islamic Revolution, following the merger of 52 higher education institutions and the formation of the University of Sciences Complex, and the subsequent reintegration of part of this complex into Shahid Beheshti University, students of Computer Applications and Systems Analysis, Practical Mathematics and Operations Research and Planning from the School of Planning and Computer Applications, as well as Statistics and Informatics from the School of Mathematics and Management of Karaj and the Higher Institute of Statistics and Informatics, were transferred to this faculty.
After several years, the disciplines of Management and Statistics were moved to their respective faculties within Shahid Beheshti University, and this faculty was renamed “Faculty of Computer Science,” then briefly as the “Faculty of Engineering,” and later as the “Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering,” offering programs in Computer Engineering with Software and Hardware specializations, as well as Electrical Engineering with an Electronics specialization. In November 2014 (Aban 1393), the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was separated, and the name was changed to the “Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.”
This faculty first admitted students to the Master’s program in Computer Engineering (Software) in the academic year 1997-1998 (1376-1377), to the Master’s program in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) in the academic year 1999-2000 (1378-1379), and to the Master’s program in Computer Engineering (Hardware) in the academic year 2003-2004 (1382-1381). In the summer of 2003 (1382), the faculty obtained approval to admit Ph.D. students in Computer Architecture. Currently, the faculty offers Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Engineering with Software and Hardware specializations; Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering with Software, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Architecture specializations; a Master’s in Information Technology with an Enterprise Architecture specialization; and Ph.D. programs in Computer Engineering with Software, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Architecture specializations, as well as a Ph.D. in Information Technology with Enterprise Architecture and E-Commerce specializations.
